A great virtuoso, his guitar is fantastic, however this album is only pretty, nothing more. It lacks of creativity and blends various genres without the right balance.

I remember those were the years of the heavy prog guitar heroes, where the record companies pushed with new bands formed around them on purpose. I remember in that period Joe Satriani (already considered the "maestro"), Steve Vai, Marty Friedman, Lars Eric Mattson, Impellitteri and maybe others. I was a young heavy metal lover and like everyone in that period, I chose mine (guitar heroes) too, they were Yngwie Malmsteen and Alex Masi. The first was already an icon, the second made me particularly proud because he is Italian like me and he made it in Los Angeles, the dream destination for every rocker in the last eighties. This record is his first solo album and I remember it was really appreciated by critics at the time. I started playing guitar in 1988, then I listened to Attack Of The Neon Shark and I decided to leave this instrument to someone good ,-). If you lived that period too, have a listen or buy this album, it's part of that history. Release - Label:Metal Blade Records; Year:1989; Code:7 73410-1 |
