Andy Summers (born Andrew James Somers) began his career in the late sixties as a guitarist for Zoot Money's Big Roll Band and the Dantalian's Chariot, groups well known over the London Club Scene.
He also worked with Eric Burdon and The Animals, and in the seventies, he worked with Kevin Ayers, Kevin Coyne, Neil Sedaka, Joan Armatrading, Tim Rose, Jon Lord and others.
Summers, who achieved international fame as the guitarist of The Police in the early '80s, also has an extensive solo discography, which began in collaboration with Robert Fripp on the album entitled "I Advance Masked, published in 1982.
Later. he has collaborated with many other musicians, such as Vinnie Colaiuta, Herbie Hancock, John Etheridge, Tony Levin, Brian Auger, Eliane Elias, Ginger Baker, Sting, Deborah Harry and Q-Tip, among others.
In 2007, along with Sting and drummer Stewart Copeland, he re-formed The Police for a long world tour.
