The Atomic Rooster were formed by Vincent Crane (keyboards) and Carl Palmer (drums), who already played together in the "Crazy World" of Arthur Brown. Subsequently, bassist Nick Graham joined them. The band was formed and, in 1970, the trio recorded its first self-titled album, the sound is hard rock oriented, along with dark influences. Soon after, Graham and Palmer left the band and Carl Palmer joined Keith Emerson and Greg Lake to found "Emerson Lake & Palmer", so, Vincent Crane remained the only Atomic Rooster's founding member. However, he along with other musicians, continued to play and performed with a commercial success, but it will not last long, because began many difficulties, arise primarily from Crane's personalities , who, because of his character disorders, was ever-changing band's musicians. Thus there was no feeling between bandmates and the quality of music fell down more and more. Crane recorded other albums under the name of Atomic Rooster, but without arouse the interest by many. With Atomic Rooster, In addition to Carl Palmer, played several important musicians, including Ginger Baker (drums, ex-Cream) and Chris Farlowe, who reach a good reputation especially with the Colosseum. Vincent Crane committed suicide on Valentine's Day 1989.
