Profile:
Bill Laswell is a musician and record producer who has worked with numerous international artists. In fact, he has been involved in hundreds of recordings with many musicians from all over the world. He has played or produced music from the noisier, more aggressive end of the rock spectrum, like hardcore punk and metal. In 1979 he moved to New York, and in 1980 he began his career collaborating with Daevid Allen, with whom he founded the group New York Gong, releasing the album "About Time". Subsequently he founded a trio, Materials, and in 1982 he joined the Golden Palominos (along with Anton Fier). In 1983 he left the band, and in 1993 he re-joined them again for another album called "This Is How It Feels." In 1999 Laswell founded along with Zakir Hussain, The Tabla Beat Science. As a producer he worked with the Ramones, Iggy Pop, Manu Dibango and many others.
