Billy Cobham (born William C. Cobham) is a musician, composer and bandleader.
He coming to prominence in the late 1960s and early 1970s with Miles Davis and then with Mahavishnu Orchestra.
Cobham is generally acclaimed by many, as one of the jazz and fusion's greatest drummer and one of the best drummers in the world, with an influential style that combines explosive power and exacting precision.
He is one of the few musicians to have been awarded with the "World Class Master".
Billy Cobham has a career as a leader (his own first album is titled "Spectrum", 1973), and he has also collaborated
with many musicians and bands, such as, amongst others, Miles Davis, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Horace Silver, George Benson,
Quincy Jones, Kenny Burrell, James Brown, Sonny Rollins, Ron Carter, Milt Jackson, John McLaughlin, Gil Evans, Miroslav Vitous,
Stanley Clarke, McCoy Tyner, Mark-Almond Band, Freddie Hubbard, Jazz Is Dead and Junior Mance. |
