Profile:

Cream were one of the first so-called "supergroup" in rock history and undoubtedly the first to succeed commercially; the members were bassist/vocalist Jack Bruce, guitarist/vocalist Eric Clapton, and drummer Ginger Baker, all coming together from their different experiences and membership in respective bands. One of the first bands to be defined as "Hard Rock", their sound and live performances, along with those of Jimi Hendrix at the time, were widely considered as a big influence on the forthcoming British movement composed by bands such as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, The Jeff Beck Group and worldwide famous rock, heavy metal and progressive bands such as Rush, Black Sabbath, Grateful Dead... In their short career, they released 4 studio albums (some of which are considered milestones for the whole rock history) and sold over 15 million records worldwide. Cream briefly reformed in 1993, for a live performance in occasion of their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2005 for a series of four shows at the Royal Albert Hall in London in May and Madison Square Garden in New York City in October.
