Danny Gottlieb has performed as member of the Pat Metheny Group, between 1977 and 1982, and Mahavishnu Orchestra. Gottlieb has recorded under his own name, as co-leader of Elements, with Mark Egan, as co-leader with Pete Levin and as co-leader of the Contempo trio, with Chip Jackson and Mark Soskin, he appears on over 300 albums. Gottlieb has worked with many ensembles, such as, Stan Getz Quintet, Pat Metheny Group, Gil Evans Orchestra, Bobby McFerrin, John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra, Eddie Gomez Group, Mike Stern Trio, Al Di Meola Project and many others. He has performed or recorded with, among others, Chick Corea, John Scofield, Wayne Shorter, Miroslav Vitous, Gerry Mulligan, Herbie Hancock, David Byrne, Sting, Jim Hall, Branford Marsalis and many more. Gottlieb is currently professor of jazz drumset at the University of North Florida, in Jacksonville, Florida.
