David Bowie (born David Robert Jones) is a musician, multi-instrumentalist, actor, record producer and arranger.
Since middle 60s, he has frequently reinvented his style, music and image,
creating characters such as, the flamboyant androgynous alter ego Ziggy Stardust, Halloween Jack, and
The Thin White Duke.
His first hit came with the song "Space Oddity", in the autumn of 1969, when it reached the top five of the U.K. Singles Chart.
In 1975, Bowie achieved his first major American crossover success with the single "Fame", co-written with John Lennon, and the album "Young Americans".
After, he recorded the minimalist album "Low" (1977), which confounded the expectations of both his record label and his American audiences.
"Low" is the first of three collaborations with Brian Eno, the so-called "Berlin Trilogy".
Subsequently, Bowie had large commercial success with: the single "Ashes to Ashes" (1980)
and its parent album, "Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)", the 1981 single
"Under Pressure", and the album "Let's Dance" (1983).
Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Bowie continued to experiment with musical styles.
