David Jon Gilmour is since 1968 the lead singer and the guitarist of Pink Floyd. Gilmour in 1968 was called by Nick Mason to join the Pink Floyd to remedy the errors that Syd Barrett committed during the live exibitions. For a short time Gilmour and Barrett played together in the band until Barrett left the Pink Floyd for his health problems with drugs. Since that moment, Gilmour became the only guitarist and the lead singer (with Roger Waters and occasionally Richard Wright) of the band. David Gilmour has also a solo career (from 1978 with his first solo album "David Gilmour") and has many collaborations with other artists and bands. Gilmour is also a record producer.
