Dee Dee Bridgewater (born Denise Eileen Garrett), since early 70s, has collaborated with some of the greatest jazz musicians, such as Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, Sonny Rollins, Roland Kirk, Dexter Gordon, Rahsaan and many others. Her solo career started in 1974 with the album "Afro Blue". Dee Dee Bridgewater is also a United Nations Ambassador for the Food and Agriculture Organization.
