With this review I would like to make a personal TRIBUTE to the one who's to me, the greatest singer in heavy metal scene; Ronnie James Dio who recently died and left us, heavy metal fans of all ages and all parts of this world, a bit more... "astounded by the things we'll do for promises... and a song". I liked to review Dream Evil not because it's the best (I can't actually tell which of Dio is the best, every album is a gem), but because it has been the first, my FIRST. And my history with Dio is some sort of... "first" thing. I began to listen to hard rock and heavy metal after FIRST seeing a picture of Ronnie in his "horny pose" in the frontpage of a metal magazine (which I immediately bought) when I was 13. The FIRST album as I said was his new one at the time (1987) Dream Evil. I was istantly captured by Night People, and realized what real heavy metal was after listening to the titletrack, and Sunset Superman (still one of his best to me). Naked in the Rain, Overlove, Faces in the Window are still joy for my ears and All the Fools Sailed Away is an unrivalled little "heavy metal opera" which contains all best characteristics of Dio's Voice: sweetness and power. If you never listened to it, do it as soon as possible!!! I could write on Holy Diver and The Last in Line too but I prefer to remember that I saw Ronnie live for the FIRST time in 2000, a short but stunning performance during the Deep Purple with Romanian Orchestra concert in Milan, and exactly 10 years before I'm writing on May 20 year 2000, Dio live at the Alcatrazz rockdisco in Milan during the Magica Tour; this was the FIRST time in my life I won 2 tickets for a concert on a local radio, and this was the FIRST concert I saw together with the woman who then became my wife. so... what else Ronnie, I just want to remember you with that night setlist and sure that I will still be coming to your concerts at some point wherever you are now.
