Discharge is a British hardcore punk band formed in 1977 by Terry Roberts and Roy Wainwright. Discharge have always had frequent line up changes though their history, but they produced their most famous works in the early eighties with Kelvin "Cal" Morris (vocals), Tony "Bones" Roberts (guitar), Roy "Rainy" Wainwright (bass), and Terry "Tezz" Roberts (drums). Discharge are considered one of the first bands to play street punk with shouted vocals, anarchist and pacifist lyrics and mixing it with metal. After changing repeatedly members, in the 1990s, the band experimented a more metal oriented music. In the early 2000s, the original members reunited and went back to their music roots, releasing a self-titled album. Discharge are recognized as an influence by many bands in the hardcore punk, thrash metal, grindcore and generally extreme scenes. Bands like Metallica, Anthrax, Napalm Death, Machine Head, Sepultura, often cover Discharge songs in their live performances. 2 Discharge songs ("Free Speech for the Dumb" and "The More I see") are present in Metallica official album of cover songs, Garage Inc.
