Born Steven Paul Smith, Elliott Smith was an American musician and songwriter. After having played in the band Heatmiser for several years, in 1994 Elliott Smith began a career as a solist. In 1998 he gained international fame as the author of the song Miss Misery from the film Will Hunting.
