ELP at the top of their game - too bad it would prove their last great release. The album kicks off with Keith Emerson's fantastic organ playing in 'Jerusalem' where Greg Lake - with his magnificent voice - sings of satanic mills (meaning the factories). Yes, the lyrics are William Blake's, one of the greatest Romantic poets! The other highlight is the unbelievable epic Karn Evil 9, a synthesis of all things Prog. Toccata is a very fine experimental piece based upon Ginastera. The ballad 'Still ... you turn me on' is okay but sounds dated to me. 'Benny the Bouncer' is a disappointing attempt to be funny - skip it! Release - Label:Rhino Entertainment; Year:1996; Code:R2 72459

Too technical and self, not emotion.
