Born Gene Francis Alan Pitney he was an American singer-songwriter, musician, and sound engineer. In the 60s, he enjoyed popularity as a recording artist with many famous bands, among them The Beach Boys and Rolling Stones. As a solo performer, Pitney wrote many succesful singles throughout 60s, 70s and 80s.
