It's fantastic, really a rock masterpiece, sweet and very complex at the same time. Highly recommended to all young prog rock lovers (the others should to know it).

35 minutes of great progressive rock, one of the Most Important albums in the history of rock music from the most complex British prog rock band. Lyrics with deep meanings and however interesting, great melodies steeped in medieval harmony, long instrumental passages. All songs are highlights, 'River' is amazing. Unique and timeless.

Gentle Giant were a great band, surely among the greatest of rock and progressive rock of the seventies. They recorded two masterpieces, the first is Acquiring the Taste, Octopus is the second, however, also all the other albums are excellent except the last two, Giant for a Day and Civilian, where there's a clear compositional fatigue and a poor approach to the new musical trends. Octopus is a superlative album, it founded the vocal harmony, which Gentle Giant are masters, technical excellence and absolute creativity. An album to listen and listen again, a no time work, to put without any doubt among the essentials of its decade.
