Jan Hammer is a musician and composer, probably best known for his role in the Mahavishnu Orchestra in the early 70s, and for his "Miami Vice Theme" and "Crockett's Theme", from the popular 1980s US television program, Miami Vice.
Hammer has worked and collaborated with several musicians, such as Al Di Meola, Stanley Clarke, Carlos Santana, Mick Jagger, Steve Lukather and many others.
He has also a career as a leader, his first work was "Maliny Maliny (aka Make Love)" recorded in 1968 under the name of "The Jan Hammer Trio".
He has composed and produced the music for the episodes
of "Miami Vice" and for the episodes of the popular British television series "Chancer".
Jan Hammer has composed also several original motion picture soundtracks, and some of these, have won a Grammy award.
