Born in 1920, Jan Van Halen is the father of Eddie and Alex Van Halen. He started playing clarinet very young and he toured Europe in the 40s, when he also met his wife. The Van Halen family moved to Pasadena, California, US in 1962. Jan was the main key for the passion for music of his sons, and he encouraged them to take lessons and buy instruments. He appears playing clarinet on the song "Big Bad Bill (Is Sweet William Now)" from the Van Halen album Diver Down (1982).  He died in 1986 at the age of 66.
