Born Jason Curtis Newsted, he first became known as the bass player of Flotsam and Jetsam in their album Doomsday for the Deceiver in 1986. Jason was called by Metallica in 1987, to replace Cliff Burton after his tragic death. He's been Metallica's bassist for many years and left the band in 2003. He then continued with his project Echobrain, played with Ozzy Osbourne and joined Voivod. He is also the founder of the Chophouse Records studio and label, based in California.
