I really appreciate the songs of this album, in my opinion it's one of the most interesting in their extensive discography. Songs from the Wood is the latest album of the early Jethro Tull, and it closes the first part of their career, the following two albums, Heavy Horses and Stormwatch, are seemingly similar to Songs from the Wood, but instead fairly different. They are different because they are less folk, they are more rock, there's more guitar and the sound is more clean and sharp. I think Songs from the Wood is the Jethro Tull's most rapresentative album in the 70s, excluding Aqualung and Thick As A Brick. After Heavy Horses and Stormwatch, in 1980, Jethro Tull publish 'A', which breaks sharply with all their previous recordings.
Highlights: 'Songs From The Wood', 'Jack-in-the-green' and 'Velvet Green', these three deserve 4/5.
