Jimmy Haslip is an American bassist, composer and record producer, probably best known as a founding member of fusion band Yellowjackets.
Haslip has been an early user of the 5-string electric bass and he is is well-known also for his versatility. In addition to his work along with Yellowjackets, Haslip between 1979 and 1980 has been a member of rock band Blackjack along with Bruce Kulick, Michael Bolton and Sandy Gennaro.
He has been a part of a music project made by a number of gigs during 2007 and one album and video published in 2009, along with Allan Holdsworth, Alan Pasqua, and Chad Wackerman.
Haslip as a soloist has released two albums, Arc and Red Heat, and he played and collaborated with several musicians and bands, such as, Donald Fagen, Al Jarreau, Bruce Hornsby, Tommy Bolin, Anita Baker, Jing Chi (with Robben Ford and Vinnie Colaiuta), Modereko and many others.
