He started as a drummer in the late 60s. He was drummer for artists like Tommy Hunt, Joey Dee & the Starlighters, Marvin Gaye, James Brown among the others and had many collaborations with famous artists throughout his career. He has his own band, Jimmy Mayes and The Mill Street Depo.
