John Winston Lennon, was a musician and composer who rose to fame since early 60s as one of the founding members of The Beatles.
Between 1962 and 1971, Lennon has been a part of Beatles, and he wrote, along with Paul McCartney, most of the band's songs.
Lennon and McCartney formed one of the most influential and successful songwriting partnerships of the 20th century.
His first band, called "Quarrymen", in 1960 evolved into The Beatles, and after their breakup, Lennon, in 1971 moved to New York City and pursued a solo career becoming also a peace activist. His songs (iconic songs such as "Imagine" and "Give Peace a Chance") were taken up as
anthems by protestors in the anti-war (Vietnam War) movement.
In 1980, less than a month after the release of the album "Double Fantasy", Lennon was murdered by a insane fan, Mark David Chapman, In Central Park, New York.
Lennon had two sons, Julian, with the first wife, Cynthia Powell, and Sean with the second wife, the Japanese artist Yoko Ono.
Both sons have followed the career of their father.
After his marriage with Yoko, John changed his name in John Ono Lennon.
