John Stirratt is member and bassist of Wilco and former guitarist / bassist of Uncle Tupelo. Stirratt joined Uncle Tupelo in 1993, and then founded with Jeff Tweedy, the Wilco in 1995. John and Jeff Tweedy are the only original members still with the Wilco. Stirratt is the twin brother of Laurie Stirratt (Blue Mountain). Together, in 2004 they released an album titled "Arabella", under the name "Laurie and John. Stirratt and Pat Sansone have another group, "The Autumn Defense", and released their first album in 2000, "The Green Hour."
