Closer, Joy Division Closer: is the second and final studio album by Joy Division, released two months following the suicide of Ian Curtis. It was recorded between 18 and 30 March 1980 at Britannia Row Studios, Islington, in London. The Appiani family tomb in the Cimitero Monumentale of Staglieno, in Genoa, is on the album cover, designed by Martyn Atkins and Peter Saville, with photography by Bernard Pierre Wolff.
