Judge Smith (born Christopher John Judge Smith) is a founding member of Van Der Graaf Generator, of wich he was the first drummer. Subsequently the arrive of Guy Evans and after having recorded the first Van der Graaf Generator single ("People You Were Going To" b/w "Firebrand"), Smith decided to leave in 1968, amicably. He formed a band called Heebalob (with David Jackson, future Van Der Graaf Generator's member) and began to pursue a solo career with many collaborations with several artists, amongst others, with some of Van Der Graaf Generator's members as Peter Hammill, Hugh Banton, David Jackson and John Ellis.
