Profile:
Keith John Moon gained acclaim for his exuberant drumming, and notoriety for his destructive lifestyle. Moon in 1964 replaced Doug Sandom (who played when the name of the band still was "The Detours") and played on all the albums and singles from the Who debut, until to 1978's "Who Are You", which was released two weeks before his death. Like most of his contemporaries, Keith Moon was a self-taught, could not read and write music and learned to play listening to the records of the giants of jazz drums. He had an innovative and wild style and is considered by many one of the greatest drummers of all time. As a soloist, Keith Moon released only one album, "Two Sides of the Moon", in 1975, where he chose to sing on all the songs, and only drums on "Crazy Like A Fox", "The Kids Are Alright" and "Move Over Ms. L", although he played percussion on "Don't Worry Baby". The drummers on the other songs were Ringo Starr (his good friend) and Jim Keltner.
