Lakshminarayanan Shankar, known also as Shenkar, is a musician, multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger.
Shankar has a career as a leader, started in 1979 with the album entitled 'Touch Me There', as well as several collaborations with many other musicians, including John McLaughlin, Bill Laswell, David Byrne and Peter Gabriel, among others.
He was also a founding memeber of 1970s fusion group Shakti (along with John McLaughlin).
