Liars is an American band founded in New York by Angus Andrew (vocals and guitar), Aaron Hemphill (guitar, moodswinger, percussion), the first line-up also included Pat Noecker (bass) and Ron Albertson (drums). The sound of their debut album, They Threw Us All in a Trench And Stuck a Monument on Top, is very close to punk-funk. In 2004, after a change of line-up, joined the band drummer Julian Gross, Noecker and Albertson left the group, Liars published They Were Wrong, so We Drowned, a concept album which turns toward the noise and the more free-form new wave, those of groups like Einstürzende Neubauten, Nick Cave the Birthday Party, Throbbing Gristle and this Heat.
In 2006 Liars released Drum's Not Dead, an album with a richer sound, based on percussion. In 2007, the Band published Liars, work that shows, in the opinion of many critics, good compositional skills. The fifth studio album is entitled Sisterworld, published in 2010 ... and the story continues ...
