Mark Stone was the first bass player in the band called Mammoth from 1972–1974, then to become Van Halen. When brothers Eddie and Alex Van Halen together with singer David Lee Roth decided to change the band's name, they hired Micheal Anthony as bassist, whereas Mark Stone left professional musicianship. He is still a good friend of the Van Halen brothers.
