Merry Clayton is an American soul and gospel singer and an actress. She has had a solo career as well as many collaborations, the most notable being back-up vocals and duets on the Rolling Stones' song "Gimme Shelter", Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama", Joe Cocker's "Feelin' Alright", Tori Amos' "Cornflake Girl."
