Peter William Brockbanks was the first guitarist of Yes.
Banks played in the first two Yes albums, "Yes" (1969) and "Time and a Word" (1970), subsequently he left the band. In 1971, Banks formed a group called "Flash", with which recorded a self-titled album in 1972, which had a good success. When Tony Kaye (former bandmate in yes) left the group, Banks took
the dual role of guitarist and keyboardist. The Flash recorded another album, "In the Can" (1972), and the third and last "Out of Our Hands" (1973).
Banks published in 1973 a solo album titled "Two Sides of Peter Banks", with the collaboration of many great musicians, including Akkerman,
John Wetton, Phil Collins, Steve Hackett, and two Flash members, Ray Bennett and Mike Hough.
In the second half of the 70s, Banks appeared as a session man on works of other musicians.
In 1993, he published a good instrumental solo album entitled "Instinct," in which Banks played all the instruments.
Even the next album "Self Contained" (1995) saw the participation of a only one musician (keyboards) as well as Banks. Among his more recent collaborations, notable are the albums "Jabberwocky" (2000) and "Hound of the Baskervilles" (2002), by Oliver Wakeman (son of Rick) and Clive Nolan.
