Thornalley became the producer for The Cure on their fourth album, Pornography. After Simon Gallup quit in 1982, he filled in as their bassist during the recording of Japanese Whispers and their first live album, Concert. Phil Thornalley maybe is best known as songwriter and producer who has worked in the music industry since 1978. He is known for co writing (with Scott Cutler and Anne Preven) and producing the song "Torn" for Cutler and Preven's band Ednaswap, which Natalie Imbruglia later covered to great success for her debut album, Left of the Middle.
