Richard Christopher Wakeman, is a musician and composer, best known as member of Yes and for his rich solo career. Wakeman was one of the most representative and
influential progressive rock keyboardyst of the seventies, and he is considered by many to be one of the best rock keyboardists of all time. He began his career in 1970 with The Strawbs, with which he released two albums, "Just a Collection of Antiques and Curios" (1970) and "From the Witchwood" (1971). In 1971 he joined Yes, his relationship with the band was often turbulent, with at least four dropouts and
subsequent returns. In the late eighties, Wakeman has also participated to the project of "re-founding of classics Yes" under the name of
"Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe", and played in their unique studio album "Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe" (1989) and subsequent tour and live album "An Evening of Yes Music Plus" (1993).
Rick Wakeman has also performed frequently as a guest or session musician for bands and artists also very different, among others, Lou Reed, David Bowie, Black Sabbath, Elton John, Brotherhood Of Man and Cat Stevens, often providing a decisive contribution to their work. In his solo production (sometimes with his son Adam), most recent examples, are the various New Age albums and several works for piano solo, as "Country Airs" (1986), "The Piano Album" (1995),
"Heritage Suite" (1993), "Chronicles Of Man" (2000) and "The Yes Piano Variations" (2002).
