Born in 1949, he was a longtime Memphis studio session bass player and songwriter. He is most remembered for having jammed with guitarists Jimi Hendrix and Jim McCarty and Mitch Mitchell on drums; a recording of this experience became the edited Jimi Hendrix song released as 'Jimi/Jimmy Jam'.
