Rufus Thomas was a singer, DJ and comedian active since 1936. For 50 years, he was the essence of music from Memphis. One of his classics 'Walking The Dog' was also covered by the Rolling Stones. Among his several hits, 'Funky Chicken', 'The Dog' and 'Push and Pull'. He was the father of keyboard player Marvell Thomas and soul singer Carla Thomas.
