Born Sam Roy Hagar he is an American rock singer, guitarist and songwriter active since 1970s. He has been a member of hard rock band Montrose, then he started his successful solo career in the 80s, before he was called to subtitute David Lee Roth, as lead singer for Van Halen in 1985; he remained in the band until 2005, while pursuing his solo career in parallel. He is currently a member of the rock band Chickenfoot and he is also well-known as the founder of the Cabo Wabo Tequila brand and restaurant chain.
