Profile:
Simple Minds was founded by Jim Kerr (singer and frontman) and Charlie Burchill (guitar), who previously had briefly formed a post punk group, Johnhy and the Self Abusers. They join Derek Forbes on bass, Mick MacNeil on keyboards and Brian McGee on drums. The choice of name was meant as homage to the song The Jean Genie by David Bowie ( ".. so simple-minded, he can not drive his module").
