Steve Vai (born Steven Siro Vai) is an Italian-American musician and producer. In addition to his renowned solo career, started with the album entitled "Flex-Able", published in 1984, Steve Vai during his long career, has been in many bands and he has collaborated with various artists. He recorded and toured in Zappa's band for two years, between 1980 and 1982, and then he worked with Alcatrazz (1984–1985), David Lee Roth (1985–1989), Public Image Ltd., Whitesnake (1989–1991) and G3, with which he has been a regular touring member since 1996. In 1999 he started his own record label, Favored Nations.
