Profile:
Stuart 'Stu' Sutcliffe (born Stuart Fergusson Victor Sutcliffe) was a poet, painter and musician, surely best known as the first bass player of The Beatles, from thier origin, in 1960, until July 1961, when he decided to leave The Beatles and return to studying painting. Was John Lennon who wanted Sutcliffe in the Beatles, he was a very good painter and with the sale of a painting, he bought a bass guitar, an instrument that truly, he never knew playing well. Sutcliffe was with the Beatles in Hamburg, and after leaving them, he enrolled at the College of Art, in the same city, where he also met photographer Astrid Kirchherr, to whom he was later engaged.
