Born Henry Saint Clair Fredericks, he adopted the stage name of Taj Mahal. A self-taught singer-songwriter, he is unanimously recognized as one of the most influential and important musicians, who reshaped and adapted traditional blues by fusing it with sounds from the Caribbean, Africa and the South Pacific, therefore becoming an icon for the world music scene. With a career that spans over 5 decades, his collaborations with the most important artists and groups are uncountable.
