Tempest were founded in London in 1972 by drummer Jon Hiseman and bassist Mark Clarke from Colosseum. Allan Holdsworth participates on the first album (self-titled, 1973) and on Live in London (Bootleg). The first line-up presents the vocalist Paul Williams, from the British group Juicy Lucy. In '74 Tempest released their second studio album, Living in Fear, in which guitarist Ollie Halsall replaces Holdsworth and Mark Clarke replaces Paul willims as lead singer.
