Profile:
The Almighty formed in Strathaven, Scotland, in 1988 and they soon became one of the most appreciated hard rock bands in the UK scene of the late eighties and early nineties, their success also increased by the popularity of their frontman Ricky Warwick. After their first album, "Blood, Fire and Love", The Almighty were voted in third place on the Kerrang! readers poll for Best New Act. They went on knowing great success in Britain and throughout Europe. In the first nineties they supported European tours of Iron Maiden and Metallica and in following years they performed their own tours thoughout Uk and the continent, supporting the albums "Powertrippin'" and "Crank", unanimously considered as milestones in the rebirth of the UK hard and heavy scene. In 1996 Warwick left the band which soon split up. The Almighty reformed with some original and new members in 2000 and released the self-titled album "The Almighty", followed in 2001 by "Psycho-Narco", after this they split-up again and the leader Ricky Warwick pursued a solo career. In 2006 the classic lineup (Ricky, Stump, Floyd and Pete) reformed for benefit shows and that was the occasion that paved the way for the UK tour in 2008 to celebrate The Almighty twentieth anniversary. Since 2008 the band stopped again its acivities but they never officially disbanded and Ricky Warwick, at the moment busy with his solo career and as frontman of the recentely reformed Thin Lizzy, when interviewed, always gives The Almighty fans a hope for their studio and live come back. The Almighty official wesbsite is quite clear on this too...
