The group, a Rhythm and Blues vocal duo, was composed by the Allen twins (Arthur and Albert), who were friends with Jimi Hendrix when he first moved to New York in 1964; the three started playing and experimenting together and later The Ghetto Fighters performed as backup singers on some of Hendrix' recordings, most notably the song "Freedom".
