Note & Curiosity:

One of their biggest hit is a traditional Irish ballad that the band put in rock, "Whiskey in the Jar". In 1998 Metallica inserted this song in their covers album
Garage Inc., thus paying tribute to Thin Lizzy influence on them and on many hard rock, heavy metal bands.

Profile:
|
Thin Lizzy are a famous Irish hard rock band; they formed in Dublin in 1969. The band were led by bassist, songwriter, singer and frontman Phil Lynott, and are best known for their songs "Whiskey in the Jar", "Jailbreak" and "The Boys Are Back in Town", often played in rock radios and covered by hard rock and heavy metal bands.
Lynott was also one of the few black men to have success in hard rock. As well as being multiracial, Thin Lizzy members were from both sides of the
Irish border but also from both the Catholic and Protestant communities, thus representing a great example of what music can do for peace and friendship. After Lynott died, the band knew various line up changes, but they never split up. Thin Lizzy are usually ranked among the 100 Greatest bands of Hard Rock. The last formation of Thin Lizzy has already planned a tour in 2011.
