Born Thomas Earl Petty, he is one of the most famous American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He is the founder and frontman of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and was also a founding member of the late 1980s supergroups Traveling Wilburys and Mudcrutch. He has released a great number of hit singles with the Heartbreakers and as a solo artist, many of which remain milestones for adult contemporary and classic rock airplaying. Throughout his career, Petty and has sold nearly 60 million albums worlwide.
