Vincent Crane (born Vincent Rodney Cheesman) is best known as leader and founding member, in late 1969, of Atomic Rooster. Crane was also a member of "The Crazy World" of Arthur Brown, with which he recorded self-titled album (1968) contained the song "Fire", hit single in U.S.A., U.K. and Canada, with Crane's organ on the leads. Crane was a member of Dexys Midnight Runners between 1984 and 1986, and he worked and collaborated with several musicians, such as, amongst others, Rory Gallagher (Rory Gallagher, 1971), Arthur Brown (Faster Than The Speed Of Light, 1979), Richard Wahnfried and Peter Green. Crane died of an overdose at the age of 45, after a long fight against manic depression.
