Vincent "Vinnie" Colaiuta is famous for his musical versatility and his technical skill, in fact, he has played with many musicians and bands from a very large variety of genres.
In April 1978, Colaiuta, auditioned for Frank Zappa, performing even the extremely difficult solo "The Black Page (originally written for Terry Bozzio). The hearing was successful, and Colaiuta worked with Zappa in live performances and studio works until 1982.
After, since 1982, Colaiuta has worked with many artists and bands, such as, Chick Corea, John McLaughlin, Sting, Joni Mitchell, Jeff Beck, Paul Anka, Herbie Hancock, George Duke, Michael Bublè, Leonard Cohen, Tom Scott, Barbra Streisand, Allan Holdsworth, Frank Gambale, Asia, George Benson, Lee Ritenour, Roberto Carlos, Tony Levin, Dean Parks, Duran Duran, John Patitucci, Chaka Khan, Mike Stern, Abe Laboriel, Bill Evans, Stanley Clarke, Anastacia, The Commodores, The Temptations, Cristina Aguilera, Gino Vannelli, Quincy Jones, James Taylor, Joe Cocker, Burt Bacharach, Pino Daniele, Backstreet Boys, Megadeth and many others.
Vinnie Colaiuta has also a career as a leader, started in 1994 with the album "Vinnie Colaiuta".
