Profile:
Youssou N'Dour is a musician and occasional actor. He developed a style of popular music in Senegal, known as Mbalax, a mix of traditional percussions (Griot) used in prayer songs, with Afro-Cubans arrangements. Youssou N'Dour achieved international success thanks to the famous duet with Neneh Cherry, with whom he sang '7 Seconds', 1.5 million copies sold. This success drew in 1994, his new album, 'The Guide (Wommat)' at the top of European charts and brought the Senegalese star to conquer markets outside Africa.
